Guests were welcomed with refreshments and the opportunity to meet the featured authors before gathering in the Little House courtyard for the afternoon’s program. This year’s event also paid special tribute to Bev Nelson, founder of the Author’s Salon, whose vision and dedication helped establish the event as a beloved PVI tradition over the past 35 years. Bev reflected on the joy of organizing the salon and the meaningful impact it has had in advancing PVI’s mission of helping older adults age with dignity and independence in their own homes. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions, Peninsula Volunteers presented her with flowers and a special keepsake—an enlarged invitation signed by the Peninsula Volunteers.

The program began with an entertaining “spin-the-wheel” game led by radio personality Don Bleu, with one lucky guest winning a gift certificate prize. Returning as moderator, Jan Yanehiro guided a lively and engaging discussion with the authors, who shared personal insights into their writing journeys, creative processes, and professional experiences. Guests enjoyed hearing the unexpected similarities that connected each author’s path and storytelling style.
